I am so looking forward to heading to Philly for the first ever PreK-12 Principal Conference a.k.a The National Principals’ Conference (#NPC17). As my Assistant Principal (Kim Corbidge- @KCorbidge) and I were deciding how to maximize our three days, we began to formulate a plan…”Let’s do it ALL”!
Last year #NAESP16 was awesome in DC and I even did some presenting:
But this year, I am going to focus on learning and connecting! I love the #PrincipalsInAction and the #MomsAsPrincipals groups..so inspiring! I can’t forget #KidsDeserveIt and #LeadLAP too!
Our Plan of Attack
So, before even downloading the app, we scoured Twitter to see what we could find from our “Tweeps”…the must attend sessions from the people we learn from everyday from a distance! Next, we looked at the strands and the types of presentations. We LOVE the variety: Connectathon, Regular Presentations, the Innovations Lab, and EdCamp. We wanted to make sure that we attended some of each. Next, we downloaded the app. One of us looked at the speakers, while the other scrolled through the sessions offered on each day.
At first, we were trying to stay together (we are still doing that for some), but decided the divide and conquer method was the best! We have even decided to keep breakfast simple and bring our own yogurt, cereal and snacks, so we can hit the ground running in the morning! We are #FitLeaders, so we need to make sure we get in our workouts too! Soooooo much to do and sooooo little time!
Before even attending sessions it is a must for us to connect with Joe Mazza, Tony Sinanis and Vicki Day…my #twitter mentors! I would love to see Ms. Missouri, Beth Houf and some newer tweeps: Lindsy Stumpenhorst and Jessica Cabeen! Also some old friends: Ben Gilpin, Jimmy Casas, Jeff Zoul, Brad Gustafson, Dan Butler, Todd Nesloney, Joe Sanfelippo, Theresa Stager, Melinda Miller, Kathy Melton and SO many more!
Here is our schedule:

At 9:00, Kim is heading to “#KidsDeserveIt” and then we are meeting for the conference THROWDOWN at 10:30am!
We will finish our day and our conference with Kevin Carroll in the ballroom. Our big, yellow school bus will pick us up (we have a huge team of Principals and District Admin coming from Cape Henlopen) at 2:00PM and drive us the two hours back home to the Delaware Beaches!
While this is certainly not a comprehensive list and I think I keep missing @jeff_zoul, I hope we will be able to get a lot out of our time in Philly. Make sure you are…
Kim and I certainly will! We hope to connect with you over the next few days!
